Best Non-Toxic Sippy Cups and Toddler Plates (2026)

The transition from bottles to cups and from purees to real food is an exciting milestone. But it also introduces a whole new set of products that your toddler will be eating and drinking from multiple times every day. And just like bottles, not all toddler feeding products are created equal when it comes to material safety.

After the BPA scare of the late 2000s, many manufacturers switched to BPS and other bisphenol alternatives that research is now showing may be equally concerning. Then there are the melamine plates marketed as “unbreakable” for kids that can leach formaldehyde when heated. The toddler feeding product space is full of hidden chemical exposures, but there are excellent clean options available once you know what to look for.

Materials Guide: The Good, The Bad, and The Avoid

Best: Stainless Steel

Food-grade stainless steel (304 or 18/8) is the gold standard for non-toxic drinkware. It does not leach chemicals, is virtually indestructible, does not retain flavors, and lasts through multiple children. The only drawback is you cannot see how much liquid is inside, and it can dent if thrown with enough toddler force.

Best: Food-Grade Silicone

Pure food-grade silicone is made from silica (sand) and is incredibly stable at both hot and cold temperatures. It does not leach chemicals, is flexible and shatter-proof, and can go in the dishwasher, microwave, and freezer. Look specifically for 100 percent food-grade silicone rather than silicone-coated products.

Good: Natural Bamboo

Bamboo dinnerware is sustainable and looks adorable, but check the binding agent. Some bamboo products use melamine resin to hold the fibers together, which defeats the purpose of choosing a natural material. Look for bamboo products bound with food-grade silicone or natural resins instead.

Caution: Plastic (Even BPA-Free)

BPA-free does not mean chemical-free. Many BPA-free plastics use BPS, BPF, or other bisphenol alternatives that may have similar endocrine-disrupting properties. Polypropylene (PP, recycling code 5) is generally considered the safest plastic, but it still degrades over time, especially when heated or washed in the dishwasher repeatedly.

Avoid: Melamine

Melamine plates are popular because they are lightweight and virtually unbreakable. However, melamine can leach formaldehyde, especially when exposed to hot foods or acidic liquids. Never microwave melamine and avoid serving hot soup or acidic foods like tomato sauce in melamine dishes.

Best Non-Toxic Sippy Cups

Best Overall: Pura Kiki Sippy Cup

Pura Kiki makes the only 100 percent plastic-free sippy cup on the market. The body is medical-grade stainless steel, and the sippy spout is food-grade silicone. Their genius system lets you swap lids as your child grows, from bottle to sippy to straw to sport top, all on the same steel body. It is the last cup system you will ever need to buy.

Best Straw Cup: Klean Kanteen Kid Classic

Made from 18/8 food-grade stainless steel with a BPA-free silicone straw, the Klean Kanteen is durable enough to survive being thrown across a restaurant and easy to clean with no hidden crevices where mold can grow. The leak-proof design actually works, which any parent knows is not always a given.

Best Silicone: ezpz Tiny Cup

Made from 100 percent food-grade silicone, the ezpz Tiny Cup is designed for baby-led weaning and open cup introduction. The soft material is gentle on gums, does not shatter, and the weighted base helps prevent spills. It is perfect for the transition from bottles to independent drinking.

Best Non-Toxic Toddler Plates and Bowls

Best Suction Plates: ezpz Happy Mat

The ezpz Happy Mat is made from one piece of food-grade silicone that suctions directly to the table. No separate plate to throw on the floor, no small pieces to lose. It is free from BPA, BPS, PVC, latex, and phthalates. The divided sections make it easy to offer variety at meals.

Best Stainless Steel: Avanchy Stainless Steel Plates

Avanchy combines a stainless steel bowl with an organic bamboo base and silicone suction ring. The food only touches stainless steel, while the bamboo base adds warmth and the suction keeps it on the table. It is a beautiful and functional design that works.

Best Bamboo: Eco Rascals Bamboo Plates

Made from natural bamboo fiber bonded with food-grade silicone (not melamine), Eco Rascals plates come in fun animal shapes that toddlers love. They are lightweight, sturdy, and naturally antibacterial. The removable silicone suction base makes them easy to clean.

Care Tips for Non-Toxic Feeding Products

Even the cleanest products need proper care. Hand wash silicone and bamboo when possible to extend their life. Replace silicone sippy spouts and straws every two to three months or when you notice teeth marks that could harbor bacteria. Avoid putting bamboo products in the dishwasher as the heat can warp and crack natural fibers. Inspect stainless steel for dents that could trap food particles. And replace any product that develops a persistent smell even after thorough cleaning.

The Bottom Line

Toddlers eat three meals and multiple snacks every single day. The cups and plates they use are in constant contact with their food, and those materials matter. Stainless steel and food-grade silicone are the safest bets across the board. One set of quality non-toxic feeding products can last through toddlerhood and beyond, making it a worthwhile investment for your child’s health and your peace of mind.

A mom on a mission, she started 1 Stop Baby after spending countless late nights decoding ingredient lists and certification labels for her own children — and realizing how hard it is for parents to know what’s truly safe. Today she personally vets every product featured here against a strict non-toxic standard: clean, transparent ingredients and materials, recognized third-party certifications (GREENGUARD Gold, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, EWG Verified), and real-world performance. Angela writes 1 Stop Baby’s guides to translate confusing research into clear, practical advice families can actually use. Her work is guided by published research from organizations like the EWG, NIH, and the AAP, and by our public editorial standards. When she’s not researching baby gear, she’s chasing her two little ones and testing way too many sippy cups.
